If Your Product Has a Horrible Name - Rename It

I was walking by this store today that was selling “Basa Filets”.

Basa sounds like a nice fish, doesn’t it? If you didn’t like strong tasting fish and you saw “basa” on the menu you might think that it would be a safe bet based on the name alone.

Just like the seafood industry renamed the “patagonian toothfish” into the much more palatable “Chilean Sea Bass”, they have done a wonderful job with the smooth sounding “basa”.

What is Basa? Vietnamese Catfish.

Really paints a picture, doesn’t it? Wouldn’t you love some of this on your plate?
