Continental now offers “flights” from Manhattan to Newark Airport (about 12 miles) via Helicopter. Trains from Penn Station in NY to Newark Airport run a few times per hour and take about 25 minutes, but evidently that is too long for some people…

Along the same lines, I knew someone once who bought a ticket from Allentown, PA to another city via Newark (Allentown and Newark are about 60 miles away). They got to Allentown, checked in, went to the gate….and got on a Continental bus to Newark…..

This is a site I really like - every day they post an old photo with a bit of a story. I’m not a big history buff, but there is something about seeing the way things used to be that intrigues me. I love talking to my Dad about what life was like growing up for him.

I want to be in the guacamole industry. At the Chipotle around the corner from my office you need to be careful as you slide down the counter deciding what you want on your burrito. Next to the lettuce, cheese and black beans is the $1.75 money pit also known as guacamole. I can only imagine how much money they make off of people who don’t realize a little scoop of avocado is going to increase the price of their taco by 40%…..

I’ve generally had good experiences at Pep Boys, but this sign threw me for a loop this afternoon. For only $9.99 you can get your car battery inspected. Yup, for ten bucks the folks will be nice enough to

a) check the charge
b) clean the terminals
c) replace the washers and
d) give you a new plastic battery tray

I’m surprised they don’t offer glove compartment inspections or muffler shines.
