Continental now offers “flights” from Manhattan to Newark Airport (about 12 miles) via Helicopter. Trains from Penn Station in NY to Newark Airport run a few times per hour and take about 25 minutes, but evidently that is too long for some people…

Along the same lines, I knew someone once who bought a ticket from Allentown, PA to another city via Newark (Allentown and Newark are about 60 miles away). They got to Allentown, checked in, went to the gate….and got on a Continental bus to Newark…..
