Owen Frager wants Obama to buy America.com for his campaign. It sounds like a good idea, but in reality could probably cause him some headaches (“people are starving and he is buying a worthless domain name for $5 million?”)
Where I really agree with Owen is where takes GreatDomains to task - saying “If you gave your $12mm house to Sotheby’s and this was their flyer how would you stand for it?”.
So true. I’m on a Sotheby’s mailing list for baseball related memorabilia . Once or twice a year I get a thick packet with a gorgeous impressive catalog that must have cost Sotheby’s $12 print. They market the hell out of their auctions, make everything look as sexy as possibly and bring in the buyers.
America.com on the other hand could sell for over $5 million and GreatDomains has up a horribly sh*tty looking single page site. And then they put up this line, which may or may not be part of a really bad publicity stunt.
